Cafe Absurd

    In Schanze, I fell in love at the first sight with a small coffee shop, serving a eat as much as you like brunch buffet, with a hot beverage. You can ask for some fruit juices too. 

Well, when you are in Germany, never forget that they eat first of all their sacrosanct whole bread ; a lot. You must keep in your mind that they eat quite early, by far too early in my mind. So hurry up to don't miss the times of the brunch, earlier than in London or in France.

Then comes the raw meat plate, while in the UK man cooks the pork meat, grilling the bacon slices, instead of swallowing cold, raw speck amounts. Don't expect too much cheesewise if you are French, here it's nothing decent, but bland tastyless, smooth cheese like in the UK. 

But I have to say, in order to be fair to this adorable place, despite it was ages ago that I went there for the last time, I think they had camembert or brie. They don't serve the sausages as you could expect from a German restaurant. As a side, you have (raw - for a change) tomatoes. 

To spread on the bread or on the croissants, you have plenty of options by the way : Nutella paste, jams, butter. Sorry, I keep skipping this step, as I am not a sweet tooth.

The national traditional hot beverage is the latte ! Espresso, americano, cappucino are old-fashioned. You can forget the skimmed milk too, we can get whole milk only. If you are in a trendy place, sometimes, they have the soya or almond version. Because of the vegan impulse.

Vegetarians and vegan people are plenty around here actually, so you can eat fish also at the Cafe Absurd, like smoked salmon with lemons thank God, scrambled eggs eventually, salat fruits, yogurt, custard, only here.
